Barney Ebsworth founded INTRAV in 1959. It built its reputation as a designer and operator of deluxe international tours and air/sea packages. Mr. Ebsworth founded Clipper in 1982 and the companies initially operated as sister companies. It was to provide a quality travel experience and exceptional customer service.

The land, cruise, and air adventures that encompass INTRAV's travel schedule combine adventure, history, culture, and wildlife to create memory- filled discoveries of the world's most fascinating destinations.
Their fleets of zodiacs and landing craft can easily be deployed at a moment's notice from their ships. Piloted by the experienced drivers, they offer a convenient and safe way to explore remote wilderness areas where shore side facilities do not exist.

The lifestyle aboard Clipper ships is informal and relaxed, with an ambiance made possible by small numbers of fellow passengers and excellent service provided by their personable young crew. All of their ships feature well- appointed interiors that provide welcome settings without ostentation; and all have elegant, window- lined dining rooms and lounges, as well as comfortable, all- outside cabins.
