Lambert-St. Louis International Airport

When people speak of St. Louis Airport, they will most probably be referring to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport because this is the main passenger airport for St. Louis, Missouri. Lambert-St. Louis International Airport saw 4.2% more boarding passengers pass through its portals in September 2007, compared to September 2006 levels. This St. Louis Airport uses four runways at present. There are also two terminals regularly being employed by Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. The East Terminal uses E Gates only, while the Main Terminal operates Gates A, B, C, and D. There is presently an upgrade of both terminals underway (valued at $105 million) which should be finished by 2012. This upgrade is called the Airport Experience program and is the most significant expansion there ever.

Spirit of St. Louis Airport

The other St. Louis Airport known to St. Louis residents would be the Spirit of St. Louis Airport located within St. Louis County, in Missouri. St. Louis County owns this St. Louis Airport, which has two parallel runways and 424 aircraft housed within its 1,300-acre property (equivalent to 526 hectares.) One runway is made of asphalt (length being 5,000 feet) while the other one is built from concrete (whose length is 7,485 feet.) The Spirit of St. Louis Airport is also where the St. Louis County Fair and Air show is usually held every year. While this event is being held on the Labor Day weekend, the Spirit of St. Louis Airport formally shuts down its flight operations from that Friday to the following Monday.
