Built in 1989, it is now the first public building in the U.S. designed by Tadao Ando, Pritkzer prize- winning Japanese architect. The museum is a private museum and in 201 it opened to public.
The most famous pieces are by Mark Rothko and Philip Guston and a few world class paintings by Picasso and Juan Gris. This gallery has a partnership (CAP) with the museum of St Louis to present and interpret contemporary art and architecture.
The mission of the non- profit foundation is to sponsor lecture series, symposia and other programs to bring together local, regional, national and international artists, architects and designers so they can engage in dialogue.
The Foundation also focuses on the interrelationship between contemporary art, architecture and design; the role of arts institutions within their communities; the relationship of public and private arts initiatives and opportunities for interaction between the visual, performing and literary arts.
Open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is no admission fee.
Hours : Noon- 5p W, 10a- 4p Sa.
